To the south, Carolina Beach merges into the town of Kure Beach. Kure Beach is a newly developed community. Kure Beach is overwhelmingly residential, dotted with cottages and a number of upscale houses. Once upon a time some of the best real estate deals could be found in Kure Beach, but today this sleep beach town is fast growing in popularity and price. There very little in the way of shopping.
Kure beach will always remain small as it is completely surrounded. The Fort Fisher state recreation area and Historic Site are on the south side and the U.S. government owns the west side as part of a buffer zone for the military terminal at Sunny Point across the Cape Fear River. In the village of Kure Beach you will find Seawatch a residential Community on 101 homestites ranging from Ocean front to wooded. The amenities include a private oceanfront beach walk a community pool and a playground.
